Aluminium gates

Gates are a critical part of any perimeter security. As a barrier that closes an opening in a wall or a fence, gates control the entry and exit into a facility, property or space. While steel gates are recommended for high security situations because of its strength, aluminium gates offer some advantages over steel in other applications and may be the better choice.

Talk to us today about your custom aluminium gate requirements and we'll find you the perfect match for your property.

Aluminium offers outstanding durability in all conditions

Steel is corrosive and is prone to rust overtime, which means ongoing maintenance is required. However, aluminium, which contains no iron or steel, has a natural resistance to corrosion because it is covered by a thin layer of aluminium oxide. When aluminium oxide gets wet, it naturally forms a protective barrier against the destructive effect of oxygen. This makes aluminium the preferred choice for coastal areas where the gate is exposed to salt air and salty water. It also means an aluminium gate will look good for years to come.

Powder-coated for a beautiful finish

Because an aluminium gate resists corrosion, it will never need painting during its lifetime. However, aluminium does respond well to powder-coating. You get:

  •  A better-looking finish than steel

  •  A durable, long-lasting finish

  •  A wide choice of colours

  •  Resistance to colour fading

  •  A surface that is less susceptible to scratching and chipping

Because powder coating bonds well to aluminium, it can attract warranty periods of up to 10 years. Also, it is worth noting that it can be up to 4x more expensive to apply a paint finish on a Hot Dip Galvanised (HDG) gate and warranties are difficult to obtain.

Security, Aluminium and Automation

When it comes to security and automated gates, aluminium gives you an advantage. With any automated gate, the motor must lift, slide or swing the gate open and closed every time something passes through. However, because aluminium is much lighter than steel you get 4 key benefits:

  • A gate motor has less work to do

  • There is less wear on the equipment

  • The motor should last much longer

  • It may be possible to specify a lower spec’d motor at a lower cost

Let us guide you on which type of gate you need

Hampden offers a wide range of custom-fabricated aluminium gates with varying levels of security and automation. We can design and fabricate gates to match your new or existing fencing. We can also provide automation and access systems to manage access of people and vehicles in and out of your property.

Cantilever Gates

Your best choice for high traffic areas

Cantilever gates avoid the need for tracking along the width of the driveway as sliding gates do.

Swing Gates

Your best solution when you have no space to slide a gate

Swing gates do not need room to slide back along the fence or wall like cantilever and sliding gates.

Sliding Gates

Your best choice for a high security barrier

Sliding gates slide along a fence line and therefore take up no room on the driveway, like swing gates.
