Waikeria Prison Development Project
A new 500 bed prison with a dedicated mental health and addiction service – Hikitia – is being developed at Waikeria Prison. The facilities will provide a safe, secure, and respectful environment for staff, prisoners, and their whānau.
Hampden was engaged early during the design phase and is currently contracted to deliver a range of high security elements to create effective containment solutions alongside CPB and Corrections
Hampden is proud to play its part in helping Corrections realise its strategy of Hōkai Rangi by delivering bespoke and durable screens and barriers to maintain control while enabling greater interaction between prisoners and their whānau to help support their reintegration with the community.
Anti-climb Drums: 1.4km of 900mm dia spiral duct drum on top of the 5.5m high concrete perimeter wall to prevent scaling.
Zone Fencing: 1.7km of 3.6m high 358 Anti-climb Security Fencing.
Commercial Screens: 740m of custom and proprietary privacy fence systems that create a visual barrier between accommodation blocks and some with patterns and themes to provide a calming environment.
Courtesy & Demarcation Fence: 3.6Km of Chainlink Security Fencing.
Gates: 70+ personnel and vehicle gates, ranging from swing to cantilever systems with various integrated functions and controls.
Many other security elements such as barrier arms and bollards.
